关于番茄红素与前列腺癌

粗略的查阅了几篇文献:

1999年Edward Giovannucci的文章[1]中提到:

Intake of tomatoes and tomato-based products and plasma levels of Lycopene, a carotenoids found predominantly in tomatoes, have been relatively consistently associated with a lower risk of a variety of cancers. Evidence is strongest for cancers of the lung, stomach and prostate gland and is suggestive for cancers of the cervix, breast, oral cavity, pancreas, colorectum, and esophagus.

2007年Rao双侠的文章[2]的说法是:

In more recently reported studies, Lycopene was shown to decrease the levels of PSA as well as the growth of prostate cancer in newly diagnose prostate cancer patients receiving 15 mg of Lycopene daily for 3 weeks prior to radical prostactomy [62, 66].

注1: PSA=prostate specific antigen

注2: 62, 66是文章中所引用的文献, 由于忘言此回复不是学术文章, 所以就不给出原址了

2009年Ruth Chan等人的文章[3]概括为:

Over the past decades, there is accumulating body of evidence from epidemiological studies supporting the role of tomato products and Lycopene on prostate cancer risk.

鉴于这三篇文章都是review而它们的结论又大体上保持一致, 所以应该可以对番茄红素在前列腺癌的预防与治疗两方面所起的作用持谨慎乐观态度. 同时, 值得注意的是Giovannucci文章[1]中的一段文字:

It is critical to recognize that the current evidence regarding dietary intake and lycopene blood concentrations reflects consumption of tomatoes and tomato products rather than purified Lycopene supplements. The pharmacokinetic properties of Lycopene remain poorly understood, and it is premature to recommend use of pharmacologic doses of Lycopene for any health benefit.

至于番茄红素对前列腺是否有其他的正面或负面影响, 忘言并不清楚. 请集兄向其他河友咨询.
