这本书有点早，对曼德拉的描述有点英雄化简单化。这本书在1994年更新过，建议看94年的版本。

建议同时参考其他的，比如曼德拉自己写的，1994年出版的Long Walk to Freedom； 1978年写的不过在1986年出版的，he Struggle Is My Life；1993年出版的Forging a Democratic, Nonracial South Africa。
