the answer is no. The Chinese cultures do not encourage critical and unorthodox thinking: if one teaches Chinese students before, you will see that Chinese students do not dare to challenge authority, do not dare to imagine, do not dare to think DIFFERENTLY.

They always assume that there is A UNIFORM ANSWER TO EVERY QUESTION. They care only about grades, not the knowledge itself.

Every economic boom comes hand in hand with a breakthrough in human being's understanding of the world around us, esp., in all kinds of scientific fields. And those breakthroughs often come after the younger generation challenge well-accepted theories and come up with new ways of thinking/theories.

This requires a culture which does not impose uniformity and encourages diversity.

We can see diligent engineers produced en masse in China. But do not expect major scientific breakthroughs from China. I will only expect them from Western Europe and US.
