Latin European colonies never built up solid/clean administration. When I say Latin European, I mean French/Italian/Spanish/Portguese. Anyway, those Latin European nations were itself a piece of C* for many years even until 1970s (Spain/Portguese/Italy)
Genetically, the colony administrations were pieces of s* permeated with corruption and inefficiency, in addition to suppression from brain-washing institution called Roman Catholoic Church.
Last reason: the first generation independence leaders are no George Washington/T. Jefferson.
I have to admit that British subjects really have historical/cultural advantage in self-administration.
US/Canada/NewZealand/Australia/HK/Singapore are all their success example.
Therefore, the global imperial power fell off the hand of Britain, but still stays with the English-Protestant nations.
