家园 Agree on some

First, Zhu, STRONG yes. As to Wen, maybe... yes. Li? hehe, a big joke.

印度、巴西、日本、德国、法国、意大利、美国等等的这最近20年来领导层为国家发展所做的贡献--add France and Canada

--You need to single out Germany. The leaderships of other nations pretty much spent most of time on electoral campaigns.

Schroder is the chancellor that reformed Germany's labor market as well as the corporate tax law, capital market regulations. Germany suffered a big contraction after the internet bubble and still emerge as the European top exporter partially because the control of labor cost increase. The nation's public finance is extremely solid, even though it is a welfare nation--actually the best one--BETTER THAN USA. Germany is the core of the Euroland. Without Germany, Euro would have collapsed long time ago.

Merkel--solid public finance management, very cautious in guiding the nation through this financial crisis. Tolerant and open-minded.

Germany's leaders are like those of China now--doers, not blah-blah talkers as those Frenchmen.

Germany's challenge in 1990s is its rigid capital market and labor market. Germany reformed much more after 1997 than France. Inside a democracy, gov. leaders need to debate and gradually persuade different interests groups to reach consensus for a gradual change--you can not dictate policies upon your constituents.

不过按丘吉尔的话说:伟大的民族是不会感激自己的领导人的。hehe, today's non-ideologue-obsessed Chinese are more and more like Anglo-Saxon people. Thanks to God, we are no longer so emotional like Frenchmen.
