You are confusing ordinary charitable sentiment, which I believe every one has to a certain degree, with ultimate sacrifices, which most of us do want to do.

The issue here is that $10 million is way too much for one to live a comfortable normal life. It is excessive by ordinary standards. Since we only need a little to Live well, we can give out the excessive amounts to promote the well being of our fellow humans who desperately need normal amounts of money for proper purposes. That's called putting resources to better uses.

But it is sacrifice for a person to give away his last dollars which he also needs desperately. This is not charity in the normal sense. That is why no one asks Warren Buffet or Bill Gates to give away everything they have.
