一，党魁Gilles Duceppe，连任六届议员的老资格，落选。二，在BERTHIER-MASKINONGE选区，新民主党临时拉人来凑数竞选，壮壮声势，这是法语区，白区，新民主党也没有潜伏什么地下党员，就临时从300公里外的GATINEAU拉了位单身母亲RUTH ELLEN BROSSEAU来。这位美眉的职业，是在一个酒吧当经理（大概就是领班吧？），她把身份证交给党了后，也知道自己必选不上的，趁组织上忙得滴溜转顾不上考勤，自己旷工去拉斯维加斯度假了，连装样子的竞选都省了。等她回府，他妈的选上了，领先第二名达7000票！该选区98%是说法语的，既然突然被美女代表了，赶紧派记者去“范进表妹”家报喜，这才发现，该美眉不会讲法语！

this election reflects two key features of French Canadians: emotional, and irrational. Just like their French cousins back in France.

Now, no money for new bridge and no more federal transfer. Harper is going to show middle finger to Quebec when it cries out again for more free money, but most Quebecois are too reliant on state for free money for decades. Now let's wait and see how those spoiled "artists and musicians" can stand on their own or not. Quebec's 2011-2012 budget is a big coverup of its deteriorating public finance.

Most NDP MPs are jokes--no solid real life experience and no leadership skill and close-to-zero political experience. Now Harper can easily give middle finger to all three opposing parties and pass any law he wants. Canada will shift to the right over the next 10 years.

Look at the new $10,000 annual quota for Tax-free saving account. I look at the provisions and can not help shaking my head: it is a big tax shelter for rich people who KNOW HOW TO manage their investment. Most poor average Joes are left behind because this tax benefit is totally irrelevant to most low-income and middle-income people. Harper is going to cut corporate income tax--good move for the corporate sector, bad news for middle-class. Tax burden is shifting to average Joes.

BTW, Liberal Party lost so many traditional strongholds in Toronto: the vote-split between NDP and Liberal is the key reason. Then Conservative won big even with 20% support...

NDP has only one man: Jack Layton. If he dies, so does the party. 4 years later, NDP's luck will evaporate. Quebec will dump it for sure.

With 103 seats, NDP can do nothing now. With its army of inexperienced clueless 20-something kids, the whole party is the laughing stock in the parliament.

Good loss for Liberal. It is time to eliminate some old patriarchies who are controlling in the back stage. The party has lost it dynamism and it is time to teach it a lesson.
