In Quebec--it is French Canadians who deserted Liberals.
In Ontario (Toronto), Liberal and NDP both lost because of vote split. Canada uses majority rule in election, not the proportional seat allocation system back in Continental Europe. So some conservative party candidate won out in the end in the Ontario market.
