19年来由Bono，The Edge，Adam Clayton和Larry Mullen四位一体组成的U2乐队，每隔数年，都会在他们的音乐中告诉我们-什么是自我超越的音乐革命。

　从19年前的《Achtung Bady》开始，到93年的《Zooropa》, 来自爱尔兰的U2让全世界乐迷知道他们绝对不是墨守成规的摇滚乐队。他们紧握音乐潮流脉搏，将新馄技与跳舞音乐素材注入U2独特的摇滚音乐之中。

97年U2推出他们第九张专辑《POP》。这是一张极具音乐革命色彩同时更趋向跳舞音乐风格流行专辑，细碟[Discotheque]在“的士高”这个大前提下，是Techno与Rock&Roll的一次“通电”，而在一曲[Mofo]时更明显地流着Techno的血液。同时，又有把Hip Hop节拍配The Edge之悠然吉他的[The Playboy Mansion]至于[Miami]那种经过处理的鼓声亦不泛Trip Hop巨星Howie B雕琢过之痕迹。

　　另一方面，U2仍不忘带来[Staring At The Sun]这首优美动人的吉他流行曲。在想听Bono感性的演绎，便有[If God Will Send His Angels]、[If You Wear That Velvet Dress]和[Wake Up Dead Man]等歌曲，那都是一贯U2的Ballad与Moody风格。

　　在《POP》这张充满包容性的大碟里，依然见到U2不断拓展崭新声音的努力，以及继续推行最摩登的摇滚精神。
