The film version of The Phantom of the Opera is directed by Joel Schumacher (Batman & Robin, A Time to Kill, Batman Forever, St. Elmo's Fire). Gerard Butler (Lara Croft and the Cradle of Life: Tomb Raider II, Timeline, Reign of Fire) plays the Phantom, and the film introduces 18-year-old Emmy Rossum (Mystic River, Day After Tomorrow) in the role of Christine Daae. A Tony nominee on Broadway for his performances in The Full Monty and Oklahoma!, Patrick Wilson (The Alamo, Angels in America) plays Raoul. The cast also includes Oscar nominees Minnie Driver and Miranda Richardson, as well as Ciar?n Hinds and Simon Callow.
