主题:【文摘】一个种族歧视的美国 -- 副将
it's sth. still going on. The residents of Cyprus are either Greeks or Turks. The history can go long long back, but it's one of the dead knot that seems hardly could be completely solved forever.
It stands out for its long history, the location (In Europe, geographically) and neither of them occupies obvious majority of the population. You can find many very beautifully written novels taking this as background.
if I remember correctly (u can always google), they held an election sometime in late 90's and the situation calms down a little--at least not as hot as Middle East now. Could the history be forgotten in a few years? No, but seems they now are both 'tired' enough to finally realize no matter how they have to stay together; that's better than any political solution and is the only correct one in long run.
PS. Turkey now is trying to join EU. It probably will be a good news for this matter.
