美国的驻外使领馆一般都有单独的机构对公民提供服务. 美国人在海外有事向驻外使领馆求助很常见, 包括我的几个同事.

我在北京遇到过，北京的身份证不让住旅店，大约10年前吧，后来似乎取消了。

反正我手里还拿着第二代身份证

美国国籍法极其复杂，有一大堆判例可以追循。根据最近的说法，失去护照不算失去国籍。最近最保险的做法是在美国外交部做一份有备案的《国籍放弃声明》。马英九应为一张过期的绿卡也说不清他有没有美国国籍或长期居留权。最后他在美国在台代表处补办了一张声明，算是糊弄过去了。但这张声明到底有什么效力民进党的法律专家还是有很多说法。

现在国民党出了李庆安的美国国籍问题，民进党好像占到了理，闹得李庆安不得不暂停“立委”职权，今天还被迫退出国民党。
