谨记勿忘，汝即君位，当护国卫教。

Religion may exist without a state; but a state cannot exist without religion; and it is by holy laws that a political association can alone be bound.

汝当为民垂范，唯虔唯德，勿骄勿纵。

You should be to your people an example of piety and of virtue, but without pride or ostentation....

一君之顺悖，系万民之福祸；独夫之所为，当国运之所寄。

Remember, my son, that it is the prosperity or adversity of the ruler which forms the happiness or misery of his subjects, and that the fate of the nation depends on the conduct of the individual who fills the throne.

夫盛衰沧桑者，世间恒常也；故当勇毅以临天威，谦慧以承天眷。

The world is exposed to constant vicissitudes; learn, therefore, to meet the frowns of fortune with courage and fortitude, and to receive her smiles with moderation and wisdom.

是故，恩泽万民，此天降我儿不辞之大任；神灵护佑，惟后世之民犹忆而颂之。

To sum up all，may your administration be such as to bring, at a future day, the blessings of those whom God has confided to our parental care upon both your memory and mine!"
