Russia's new weapon to destroy the USA!
I am going to express an opinion that I admit in advance, that I have really no knowledge about or evidence ( other than what is unfolding now ) . The opinion is this: That although the Yukos oil company affair in Russia may have began as a campaign to collect back taxes and destroy it's chairman's political threats to the Russian leadership, that campaign has now morphed into a program designed to roil oil markets--raising prices; and ultimately hurting or destroying their arch enemy--the United States, economically!
Allow me to point out a few factors that I feel still vex the Russians when they consider the United States:
1. They were humiliated by their own collapse at the end of the cold war; and over the years, the United States has continued to "rub-it-in".
2. I feel that they have not forgotten how we sided and helped the Afgans after the Russians attempted to gain control of Afghanistan in the early 1980's; and again--we, over the years, have not been shy about pointing out the many ways we helped defeat and ultimately weaken them.
3. Later on--1998 and their economic crisis. Again, wasn't it the shifty Western bankers that tricked them into the predicament that precipitated their currency problems ( their perspective ) .
4. And now, do they feel that the U.s. will only make nice with them as long as they go along with our program? I refer you to Iraq, where the Russians stand to lose Billions due to our invasion of Iraq, which they did not back, and surely see us too, as meddlers in their back yard.
5. The U.S. can't seem to help but to criticize Russia's handling of their rebelling provinces, as if we wouldn't crush rebellion here, if our Georgia decided it wanted it's independence!
Ok--so there is a short list of recent grievances that I feel the Russians may be chafing under even now, though publicly not stated.
So, Putin or someone over there starts this tax program against the oil company and it's CEO, has him jailed, etc. It's all a private internal matter right? No one else's business. After all, our own IRS goes after renegade tax cheats all the time--nothing radical about that! Well, Voe-La!
All of a sudden the oil markets begin to get spooked and crude prices begin to rise on fears of shortage, at the same time that demand continues to peak.
And there is the basis for the transformation for this episode into something else. For the Ruskies know that our big vulnerabilities are oil demand, it's price, and the follow-through effect that it has on our economy. They also can see the vulnerability of our debt pyramids to a crisis in world confidence to our economic strength. The longer the Russians can continue to dangle Yukos from a web before the world, the more precarious the U.S. situation becomes. I feel that they realize this now, and may have determined that this is the way to finally get to the United States in a way that they have never been able to before.
The more that Yukos can be slowly tortured and slowly made to cut back production, the more they as a nation win. They injure the United States economically. While at the same time, for months now, this tax and company investigation has been accepted by the U.S. and other nations as simply an internal Russian matter. How could we begin to protest it now? The Russians also benefit as a big oil producer at now higher prices. And, any economic crisis--dollar crisis--or crisis in U.S. markets will also benefit the Gold price, of which they are also large producers.
I have been amazed at the political silence in our country about this matter. Maybe, it's because the Russians are still a pretty tough dog; the more we might bark, the more they could bite!
hey gloos...i've believe and have said for years that we don't have to be beat militarily. we are our own victoms of dependance. we are soo arrogant, that we believe we can destroy anyone in our way. but we are extremely dependant on the rest of the world and it's only a matter of time that they will figure out economic warfare. china is definitely the one country, if they stockpiled food for years, that could cut off exports to us and send us to the bottom. that you even remotely believe that this economic warfare is in the minds of the russians doesn't surprise me. it's the only way and if we keep violating UN and Geneva laws, we eventually will be punished through economics sanctions which will do extreme harm. so we americans, should be more friendly and gain a better understanding of what makes this world move, not by us but by everyone living in the world.
good article and let's watch and see how this plays out. also for all that believe we can defeat china if they attack taiwan, wake up and buy all the chinese goods you will need to hide from the civil unrest that would result from china stopping all exports to our country. and just for once, think about what our gov. would do if china parked it's naval fleet off the coast of california and told our president that if he stopped california from becoming an independant country, they would attack the US. funny how double standards work.
It was all about the Dollar and its protection racket especially relating to oil countries. Now the Euro competes-upcoming
gold Islamic Dollar for international trade and possibly a free floating Chinese currency which means when it rises higher-their oil is cheaper. Reverse that for the US. Falling Dollar-markets-pensions kaput-higher commodities-hyper stagflation. Dollars coming home to Continental USA to roost =1930's Germany. All holders of US Dollars will be stocking up on commodities such as Oil-Gold-Silver-Palainum-Steel-Aluminum. Happening as we speak. Twas about the "control of oil". Saddam's WOMD was his switch from Dollars to Euros. JMO mnkyby48

Russia & Miracles of Hrushiv
On the first anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear accident in 1987, an apparition of the Virgin Mary visited the village of Hrushiv, in the Ukraine. She, together with the infant Jesus, appeared to a twelve-year-old girl named Marina, above a small church in the area. Her mother who was nearby, also witnessed the apparition.
Thousands of people flocked to the site and reported to have seen the Blessed Virgin. The Moscow Literary Gazette reported that forty-five thousand people a day were visiting the little village of Hrushiv. On one occasion eighty thousand people arrived. Within four months of the first appearance of the Virgin Mary, it was estimated that over a half million people witnessed the apparition. More than ten thousand reported to have heard her speak.
Before the apparition appears, an iridescent, pulsating light bathes the small church and the surrounding area. The Virgin emerges from this celestial light and remains visible above the roof of the church. She urges forgiveness and asks that the rosary be taught to the children as a weapon against evil.
"I have come on purpose to thank the Ukrainian people because you have suffered most for the church of Christ in the last seventy years. I have come to comfort you and tell you that your suffering will soon come to an end. Ukraine will become an independent state."
After August 1987, no further apparitions occurred until April of the following year. During the period of the Virgin's absence from Hrushiv she was reported to have been seen in eleven other shrines in the Ukraine. It is believed that appearances are continuing at more remote shrines in the country to the present day.
I don't think anyone in the world should wish for US to be destroyed.
It is just that the US is focusing too much on military without economy. That is extremely dangerous for US first and for the rest of us next.
