I do not think the article was 胡扯 as claimed by chalet.

The article only strongly suggested that cancer was rare in antiquity (it is arguable, of course) and that fact might be related to cancer prevalence in modern society. I would say that the article provides us a different view of cancer and its causes.

I do not know how much environmental pollution will influence cancer prevalence but if you say 环境污染物的影响并不算大, you need to provide evidence to support your claim. I personally do not necessarily agree with you because I do not know how you can measure it (on individual or population basis?). But I totally agree with you that 改变自己的生活习惯会是更好的选择. Sadly, sometimes it is hard to choose your own 生活习惯 which is significantly different from all others. In this sense, I think industrialization does have an effect on human health and carcinogenesis.
